Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our family practice healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess strong medical knowledge, excellent patient service skills, and proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems. This position is vital in ensuring efficient clinic operations and delivering high-quality patient care.
Duties
- Assist with patient intake, including collecting medical histories and documenting symptoms
- Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, ensuring comfort and safety
- Support physicians with clinical tasks such as medication administration, wound dressing, and basic life support procedures
- Operate and maintain medical equipment including X-ray machines when applicable
- Document patient interactions accurately within EHR systems using proper medical terminology and ICD coding
- Assist with specimen collection and prepare samples for laboratory analysis
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment adhering to safety protocols
Qualifications
- Prior experience in hospital medicine, emergency medicine, or clinic settings is preferred
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as X-ray operation or is a plus
- Familiarity with EHR systems and medical administrative support functions is essential
- Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, ICD coding, and medical terminology
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and compassionately
- Must be detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask under pressure
