About the Role:
The Medical Assistant - CMA/RMA plays a critical role in supporting healthcare providers by delivering high-quality clinical and administrative assistance in a medical setting. This position ensures smooth patient flow by preparing patients for examinations, recording vital signs, and assisting with medical procedures under the supervision of physicians or nurses. The role demands meticulous attention to detail to accurately document patient information and maintain medical records in compliance with healthcare regulations. Additionally, the Medical Assistant serves as a compassionate point of contact for patients, providing clear communication and support throughout their visit. Ultimately, this position contributes significantly to the overall efficiency and quality of patient care within the healthcare facility.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from an accredited program.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current Basic life support (BLS) certification.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and clinical procedures.
- Knowledge of privacy practices (HIPAA)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a clinical healthcare setting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Bilingual abilities to support diverse patient populations.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for examination by taking vital signs, medical histories, and recording symptoms.
- Assist healthcare providers during examinations and minor procedures by handling instruments and supplies.
- Administer medications as ordered by the provider.
- Perform administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and processing insurance information.
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and maintain a clean, organized clinical environment.
- Communicate effectively with patients to provide instructions, answer questions, and facilitate a positive healthcare experience.
- May require to travel to other locations (coverage purposes).
Skills:
The required skills enable the Medical Assistant to efficiently perform clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, preparing patients, and assisting with procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort. Proficiency with electronic health record systems is essential for accurate documentation and smooth administrative operations. Strong communication skills are used daily to interact compassionately with patients and collaborate effectively with healthcare team members. Preferred skills like phlebotomy and EKG certification enhance the assistant’s ability to provide comprehensive clinical support.
