Job Description
Performs a variety of functions to include but not limited to; data entry of summons/subpoenas, updating Returns of Services, processing Injunctions and Baker/Marchman Acts and Risk Protection Orders, answering phones, receiving process and payment at the service window, accurately dispersing process to the appropriate zone for service, and various clerical duties necessary for the operation of the civils section. Also obtain familiarization with the eviction process, paid services, levies, replevins, purges, child support summonses and civil warrants. This is a safety sensitive position.
General Description of Duties
Tasks: Complete assignment as directed; maintain work areas; knowledge of general orders; receive, route, and disperse telephone calls/messages; prepare service of process documentation; prepare temporary injunctions; balance daily receipts for deposits; provide public assistance via the telephone; bill laters; organize filing of summons/subpoena returns; type and validate sheriff's return; codes and classifies statistical data for reports; notify officials/agencies of warrants executed; serve criminal summons; and conduct limited inquiries to determine location of process to be served.

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office requires all employees to have either an associates degree, 60 equivalent hours from an accredited college or university or the Wonderlic Basic Skills Test. The Wonderlic Basic Skills Test measures verbal and quantitative skills. Sworn *Law Enforcement and Corrections Deputies must achieve a minimum passing score of Verbal - 267 and Quantitative - 241. Civilians must achieve a minimum passing score of Verbal - 248 and Quantitative - 241.
If you are out of town, please contact your local technical institute. A complete report of passing scores must be submitted directly to the SCSO.
