Job Summary
Capgemini is seeking an accomplished Senior Manufacturing Applications Engineer to lead the engineering, reliability, integration, and continuous improvement of manufacturing and enterprise applications in a complex, global manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership for business-critical applications, drive service excellence, resolve complex technical issues, and lead application modernization and transformation initiatives. This role requires close collaboration with manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, network, ERP/SAP, and third-party teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery, engineering, and support of manufacturing and enterprise applications, ensuring high availability, performance, reliability, and SLA compliance.
- Manage incident, problem, change, release, and service management processes.
- Oversee global L1/L2/L3 support teams and coordinate cross-functional technical resources.
- Drive application integration, automation, observability, and modernization initiatives, including AI/GenAI opportunities.
- Collaborate with cloud, infrastructure, security, networking, ERP/SAP, and vendor teams to ensure seamless operations.
- Lead application transitions, operational readiness, release planning, and post-deployment hypercare.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement sustainable solutions for complex application and operational issues.
- Partner with manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, and IT stakeholders to improve operational efficiency and business outcomes.
- Ensure adherence to security controls, disaster recovery, backup, and high-availability requirements.
Mandatory Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field.
- 15 years of progressive experience in application engineering, application services, managed services, IT delivery, or enterprise technology.
- Extensive experience supporting manufacturing and enterprise applications in complex, multi-site environments.
- Proven experience leading global technical support, service improvement, application transitions, and transformation initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of ITIL/service management processes, including incident, problem, change, release, configuration, knowledge, and SLA management.
- Expertise in application architecture, integration patterns, APIs, interfaces, databases, middleware, cloud services, infrastructure dependencies, and production support.
- Experience with monitoring, observability, automation, performance engineering, high availability, backup, disaster recovery, and security controls.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, stakeholder management, and technical leadership skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in automotive or discrete manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of MES/MOM, plant-floor systems, industrial data platforms, quality, maintenance, warehouse, supply chain, and engineering applications.
- Experience with SAP or other ERP platforms and manufacturing integrations.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, DevSecOps, SRE, AIOps, AI/GenAI, and enterprise observability tools.
- Experience in supplier governance, service transition, commercial delivery, and multi-tower managed services.
- Relevant certifications in ITIL, cloud, architecture, cybersecurity, project management, or enterprise platforms.
