Machinist Journeyman

We are seeking a skilled Machinist Journeyman to join our Maintenance team and support critical mill operations.

Machinist Journeyman

We are seeking a skilled Machinist Journeyman to join our Maintenance team and support critical mill operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform precision machining using manual and CNC equipment, including milling, turning, drilling, and grinding.
- Fabricate and repair components to exact specifications using machining, welding, and finishing techniques.
- Inspect completed workpieces to ensure they meet required tolerances and quality standards.
- Rebuild, repair, and troubleshoot rotating equipment and gearboxes.
- Support maintenance activities by producing custom parts and assisting with equipment overhauls.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Safely operate cranes and rigging equipment for lifting, positioning, and assembly tasks.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records of repairs, fabrication, and maintenance work.
- Follow all safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and mill standards at all times.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a 4-year machinist apprenticeship OR equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an industrial machine shop environment
- Extensive welding and fabrication experience
- Experience with gearbox rebuilds and rotating equipment
- Crane and rigging experience with safe lifting practices
- Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics
- Skilled with precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, etc.)
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and continuous improvement
- Industrial manufacturing experience, ideally in pulp and paper
- CNC programming skills
- Experience working on large-scale industrial equipment overhauls
