Accounting Supervisor
Compensation: $65,000–$75,000 Annual Bonus Excellent Benefits
Sapphire Recruitment is partnering with a well-established, privately owned project-based organization in the Greater Syracuse area to identify an experienced Accounting Supervisor. This is an excellent opportunity to join a stable, growing company where you'll oversee day-to-day accounting operations while positioning yourself for future advancement into a Controller-level role.
This position is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working in a hands-on environment, partnering with operations, and ensuring the financial health of a project-driven business. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced organization where accuracy, organization, and exceptional job costing skills are critical to success.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Lead month-end and year-end close activities.
- Maintain the General Ledger and ensure financial accuracy.
- Prepare weekly financial reports covering accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash flow, and project performance.
- Analyze job costs and project profitability while ensuring accurate cost allocation.
- Monitor project budgets and identify cost variances.
- Partner with operational leadership to provide timely financial reporting and analysis.
- Supervise and mentor accounting/administrative staff.
- Coordinate with external accounting and financial partners.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and process improvements.
- Support annual audits and other financial compliance activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- Five or more years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience preparing financial statements.
- Strong General Ledger and month-end close experience.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
