The Senior Accountant is responsible for overall assurance that all project and non-project costs are recorded accurately and coded properly to the right project, which further supports margin and overhead costs analysis. This position supports the development of accounting and reporting processes and procedures. Utilize the knowledge of accounting and systems to improve the operational and financial effectiveness of projects for this growing company. The Senior Accountant will report directly to the VP of Accounting.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, month end accounting close processing.
- Communicate with fuel suppliers and internal departments for accurate and timely receipt of invoices and appropriate documentation.
- Provide timely and accurate tracking and allocations for fuel, equipment, mileage and labor.
- Provide information to fuel suppliers for accurate nominations.
- Processing of accruals for fuel, freight, labor, and other miscellaneous expenses.
- Assure that costs are being recorded and coded to the correct project, business line, department, industry and perform margin analysis by project as well as bought vs sold reviews.
- Support budgeting and forecasting process. Ad-hoc financial analyses and projects.
- Liaise with Operations teams and project managers.
- Liaise with external auditors and assist with requests and documentation.
- Maintain ethical and professional business practices in day-to-day activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications include, but are not limited to:
- Bachelor's in Finance and/or Accounting. CPA strongly preferred.
- 3 - 5 years in accounting.
- Natural Gas Transportation, Energy and/or Oil & Gas Industry experience preferred.
- Proficiency in financial software & ERP systems (QuickBooks, Oracle, etc.).
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 & Business Central products strongly preferred,
- Experience with the design of work processes and procedures, and training personnel.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel preferred.
