Essential Job Tasks:
- Installs and configures RF mesh network devices—including collectors (network gateways), routers, IWR radios and endpoints (meters) using tools such as RadioShop, Command Center, TechStudio, and command-line interfaces.
- Ensures accurate IP addressing, successful device registration, and adherence to security best practices.
- Establishes and maintains TCP/IP connectivity across the RF mesh network by configuring IPv4 (IPv6 Future) settings and verifying reliable communication between field devices and head-end systems.
- Configures and supports cellular communications by setting up LTE/4G/5G modems in collectors, gateways, and meters, validating signal strength, and ensuring proper SIM provisioning and failover between cellular and LAN backhaul.
- Performs network diagnostics and troubleshooting using tools to analyze packet loss, latency, hop counts, and signal strength.
- Identifies and resolves issues related to RF mesh routing or cellular connectivity.
- Synchronizes network time using NTP (Network Time Protocol) to ensure accurate timestamping of meter reads, alarms, and system logs across all devices.
- Performs device firmware upgrades, meter firmware upgrades, and big DCW upgrades by pushing updates over the air using RadioShop, Command Center, and TechStudio.
- Confirms successful registration and communication with the head-end system.
- Conducts RF propagation studies and field surveys using spectrum analyzers and mapping tools to determine optimal placement of collectors, routers, and other network devices, and to document signal coverage and interference zones.
- Maintain endpoint licensing and digital certificates by tracking license usage, activations, and expirations, and ensuring all deployed devices are properly authorized.

Service Technician A
- Associate's Degree in Electrical/ Electronic Engineering 3 years experience or High School Diploma/GED 5 years of directly related experience required.
- Must be able to perform all tasks in the Power Service Technician B Task Performance Manual.
- Must be able to read and interpret electronic schematics and have an understanding of communications systems and two-way radio communications
- On-call status is required.
