Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in preparing prescriptions, including counting, labeling, and packaging medications in accordance with legal and safety standards
- Manage medication inventory, including stock replenishment, storage organization, and proper disposal of expired drugs
- Support patient intake processes by verifying prescription information and updating electronic health records accurately
- Administer medications under supervision, including IV infusions and other aseptic techniques in hospital or clinical settings
- Maintain detailed documentation of medication administration, patient interactions, and pharmacy activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Provide excellent patient service by answering medication-related questions and offering guidance on proper usage and storage
- Follow strict aseptic techniques during sterile compounding procedures to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety
Requirements
- Proven pharmacy technician experience with a strong understanding of medical terminology and medication management practices
- Experience working in LTC (Long-Term Care) pharmacy or hospital environments preferred
- Critical care experience is highly desirable for supporting acute care settings and complex medication needs
- Knowledge of IV infusion procedures, aseptic technique, and medication administration protocols
- Familiarity with pharmacy software systems and inventory management tools
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to patient care excellence
- Certification as a pharmacy technician where applicable; ongoing education in medical terminology or clinical practices is a plus
