Store Clerk / Reservations

Purpose

The Store Clerk/ Reservations position is the heart of our operation. Your role would include providing excellent customer service to our guests both in person and over the phone, assisting with reservations, and giving them a great first impression upon check-in. This position is seasonal through the end of October with potential for extension into Winter months.

Functions and Responsibilities

• Answer and direct phone calls
• Make campground and motel reservations via email, phone, and in person.
• Welcome guests into the resort by checking them into their room or campsite. Answer any questions the guest may have them and point them in the direction of their accommodation.
• Keep a clean and tidy workspace
• Clean and maintain common areas, including bathroom, break room and coffee/slushy counter
• Clean and Stock store shelves
• Communicate with guests, co-workers, management team, and owners.
• Help in the laundry room when needed
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

• Have knowledge of retail computer programs
• Must possess a courteous and friendly rapport with guests and co-workers.
• Have interpersonal/communication skills orally and in written language.

Extent of Public Contact

The Store Clerk/Reservations will greet guests, graciously providing them assistance, and answer their questions in order that they might better enjoy their stay.

Physical Demands

This position requires frequent reaching, stretching, stooping and climbing up and down stairs. Much of the workday consists of standing and walking. Often this person will be required to lift boxes weighing up to 20 pounds and occasionally may be required to lift up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions and Environment

Daytime position which may include weekends and holidays. Position is mostly indoors; however, cleaning and chores may be outside as well as inside stores.

Store Clerks may work in any of the following extreme weather situations:

• Summer – Hot and Humid Conditions:
  • Clerks may work in hot and sunny weather, often with high humidity, especially in summer months
• Rain and Stormy Weather
  • Clerks may have to work in light rain or deal with temporary bursts of inclement weather like thunderstorms or heavy rain.
• Windy Conditions
  • In areas with frequent winds, Clerks may need to monitor weather conditions to ensure safety of guests and employees
• Winter – Cold Conditions
  • Clerks may be required to work in low temperatures, possibly with snow or ice.
  • Will need to dress warmly, including wearing layers, gloves, hats, and appropriate outerwear.
  • Depending on the location, there may be wind chill factors or occasional snow, which could impact visibility and comfort

Job Requirements

• Must be 16 years of age or older
• Must be able to exhibit all physical demands listed in this job description at any given time during shift
• Must be willing and able to operate a cash register
• Must be flexible throughout season, with weekend availability
• Must be able to work independently, with little daily supervision
