Job Summary
Job Summary
The Santa Rosa Behavior Department understands that all behavior is communication and serves an underlying need. We support students who show challenging behaviors that are impacted by their disability and/or trauma, school environment and current circumstances. The Behavior Assistant Team (BAT) is a group of caring and supportive staff who are self-motivated. They connect with students, implement classroom safety plans, collect behavioral data, teach more acceptable/safe behaviors, and implement reinforcement systems that motivate our students. BATs are provided with training on behavior management, function under the guidance of a Behavior Specialist, and receive group supervision. Additional other duties as assigned related to emergency, crisis and/or pandemic.
Requirements / Qualifications
Required: -High school graduation and experience supporting students with behavioral or self-regulation needs in learning environments. -Commitment to completing provided training and earning required certification in crisis behavior management, with a capacity to remain regulated in stressful situations. * 2 Letters of recommendation. Desired: -Skill in understanding, implementing and modeling positive, student-centered behavior support plans. - Ability to collect and communicate observable behavior data (e.g., frequency counts, ABC notes). - Ability to support student safety and regulation, and remain solutions-oriented during challenging behaviors, modeling a growth mindset for students and staff. *Must pass Paraprofessional exam before employment offer.
