The Activities Director is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing recreational and therapeutic activities that support the social, emotional, physical, intellectual, and spiritual well-being of residents in a long-term care environment.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement a comprehensive activities program for residents in a skilled nursing facility
- Lead daily recreational, social, and therapeutic activities that promote resident engagement
- Complete MDS documentation, assessments, and care plans related to activities programming
- Provide individualized and one-on-one activities when needed
- Ensure regulatory compliance for activity programming in a long-term care setting
- Facilitate Resident Council meetings in collaboration with the Administrator
- Coordinate holiday events, seasonal activities, and facility decorations
- Work closely with nursing and interdisciplinary teams to support quality of life for residents
- Activity Director Certification (ADC) or willingness to obtain certification
- Experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, assisted living, or healthcare activities programming
- CNA certification preferred but not required (willingness to get a CNA is welcomed)
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Passion for working with seniors and geriatric populations
