Children’s Ministry Coordinator
Position Summary
The Children’s Ministry Coordinator (CMC) is a part-time role that provides administrative and organizational support to the pastoral team as they carry out the vision of the church as it relates to the physical and spiritual needs of and Sanibel’s Community Church’s children’s program (ages nursery to 5th grade). This position reports to the family pastor or his designee.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Recruit, schedule, train, resource and appreciate volunteers for children’s ministry programs including children’s church, nursery and toddlers, Sunday school, mid-week outreaches and special events.
2. Research, recommend, Implement and enforce policies and procedures for the CM to create a safe, loving environment where children can learn and flourish.
3. Track and maintain essential ministry data including attendance records and background checks for all volunteers.
4. Oversee regular communication with parents and volunteers about CM events, updates, schedules, curriculum and policies.
5. Organize special events including Vacation Bible School, holiday events, and our Easter outreach.
6. Participate in staff meetings, retreats and trainings.
7. Oversee the ordering, and stocking of supplies for CM rooms in the Family Life Center.
8. Prepare, order, and copy curriculum materials as needed.
9. Assist in teaching children’s classes and events as needed.
Qualifications
1. Born-again follower of Jesus Christ marked by exemplary Christian character and life.
2. Full agreement with SCC’s doctrines, membership commitment and statement on social principles.
3. 5 years experience in related work desired.
4. Bachelors degree or higher in related fields desired.
5. Biblical or theological education desired.
6. Proven ability to recruit, train and manage volunteers, and to develop teams of volunteers.
7. Exhibits strong organizational skills and is detailed oriented with strong administrative abilities.
8. Capable of handling stressful situations with tact and professionalism.
9. Love for the Lord, for children, for families, and for the local church.
10. Effective communicator, both verbal and written.
11. Effective teacher.
12. Strong work ethic, flexibility, positivity, servant-heartedness, fun-loving.
13. Strong problem-solving abilities.
14. Comfortable using and learning technology.
15. Handles sensitive information with discretion.
16. Healthy marriage to a supportive, Christian spouse (if married).
