Title: Quality Specialist
Reports to: Quality Manager
Status: Non-Exempt
Position Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Quality Specialist is to support the administration of the Quality Management System. Working with the Quality Manager, this role will participate, support, and lead quality initiatives ensuring that quality program policies, plans, standards, and requirements are achieved at Sani-Matic. This role will directly support administration of Sani-Matic controlled documents and training program documentation. This position interacts routinely with all internal functions (engineering, manufacturing, sales/marketing, purchasing) ensuring quality management systems are being followed.
Essential Functions:
- Directly supports data entry and document control of Sani-Matic’s QMS controlled documents and training programs.
- Actively participates in identification and implementation of Quality improvements including logging quality incidents and completion of supporting documentation.
- Follows Good Documentation Practices (GDP’s) to ensure data is attributable and contemporaneous, ensuring quality data is accurate, complete, and traceable.
- Reviews and develops SOP’s for accuracy to work performed and suggests updates, where needed.
- Participates in quality investigations, providing support where needed.
- Completes required documentation per Sani-Matic requirements.
- Complies with Sani-Matic’s Health and Safety Manual policies and OSHA Regulations.
- This position interfaces routinely with all internal functions (Quality, Engineering, Production, Product Development, and Continuous Improvement).
- This is a 40-hour week position, additional hours may be required at times to meet quality objectives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by manager.
Knowledge / Skills / Expertise:
- Minimum 2 years relevant work experience in a quality role.
- Associate’s degree in a quality/manufacturing-related field, or suitable quality-related experience.
- Ability to read and interpret product drawings and specifications, SOP’s, Work Instructions and other documents related to Sani-Matic quality requirements.
- Experience in using inspection tools such as profilometers, calipers, micrometers, PMI guns, etc. preferred.
- Understands the importance of accuracy and the consequences for substandard work.
- Impeccable attention to detail & organization.
- Ability and willingness to follow directions and work independently, as well as with others.
- Self-motivated with good verbal and written communication skills, fluent in word processing applications.
- Prior experience/exposure to electronic QMS software and controlled document administration a plus.
- Computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Environmental Conditions:
- Humidity level in the shop may be elevated during summer months.
- Exposure to certain contaminants in the shop, at times.
- Exposure to loud noise levels in the shop, at times.
Physical Demands:
- This position requires occasional use of your hands, arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling materials.
- This position may require lifting and maneuvering 50 lbs. without physical restrictions.
- This position requires sitting, standing and/or walking as needed.
- The use of safety equipment such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, gloves, helmets and hearing protection is utilized daily.
- Performing the duties of the job requires the use of a laptop and telephone.
