Controller

Our client, a growing manufacturing company headquartered in Metro Detroit is seeking a hands-on Controller to report directly to the CEO and lead the accounting function across multiple manufacturing locations.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys broad ownership, partnering with operations, and making an impact in a lean, collaborative organization. You'll oversee financial reporting, month-end close, cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, inventory, cash flow, and internal controls while supporting manufacturing operations in the Midwest.

The company is looking for a dependable, long-term accounting leader who can own the finance function, provide accurate financial reporting, and serve as a trusted business partner to executive leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
• Prepare financial statements and management reporting
• Oversee general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, fixed assets, and inventory accounting
• Manage cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow
• Maintain internal controls and ensure GAAP compliance
• Partner with executive leadership on financial planning and operational decision-making
• Coordinate external audits, tax matters, and banking relationships
• Support accounting for multiple manufacturing facilities across Indiana and Kentucky
• Travel occasionally to manufacturing plants to collaborate with operations and plant leadership
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
• 7-10 years of accounting experience, including manufacturing accounting
• Strong background in cost accounting and inventory
• Leadership experience in an accounting environment
• Advanced Excel skills and ERP experience
• Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills
• Hands-on, trustworthy, and collaborative leadership style

Compensation

• $90,000-$125,000 base salary
