Controller | Metro Detroit (Southfield Area)

Full-time | up to $115,000 (DOE)

Our client, a specialty healthcare organization with multiple locations in Metro Detroit, is seeking a Controller to lead the financial operations and oversee accounting functions across the organization. This role reports directly to the CFO and manages a team responsible for AP/AR, billing, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all functions of the corporate finance department, including billing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Prepare monthly and annual financial statements and reports for leadership review.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning initiatives.
• Analyze financial performance, variances, and cost trends to support business decisions.
• Manage internal controls, audit preparation, and compliance with accounting standards.
• Partner with department leaders on budgeting, reimbursement, and cost analysis.
• Supervise, train, and evaluate accounting staff to promote professional growth.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA or Master’s preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller in healthcare; 2–4 years of hospital experience preferred.
• Proven leadership experience managing accounting teams.
• Strong general ledger, financial reporting, and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in Excel, ERP systems (Oracle, CPSI, or similar), and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational abilities.
  
  

Work Environment

• Primarily onsite in the Southfield area (flexibility for up to 2 remote days per week).
• Reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
