What are the responsibilities and job description for the Loading Dock Attendant position at Sanford Consortium for Regenerative Medicine?
Overview
We are looking for a motivated, reliable, and service-oriented professional to serve as the primary steward of our loading dock operations. The Loading Dock Attendant will effectively and efficiently manage and transport all materials from the loading dock to end user departments.
Responsibilities
• Sorts and delivers all incoming deliveries from couriers which include but is not limited to, the US Postal Service, UPS, Federal Express and campus mail to the appropriate labs and administrative offices.
• Assist building personnel with outbound shipping needs.
• Unloads and distributes all incoming freight and may be required to assist in uncrating and delivering equipment to end users throughout the building.
• Oversees stock of consumables such as, dry ice and loading dock supplies, and occasionally facilitating gas cylinder distribution to laboratories upon request.
• Provides exceptional customer service to all building occupants and communicates in a pleasant, courteous, and professional manner.
• Ensure the loading dock and warehouse facilities are kept clean, safe and orderly.
• Provides support and assistance to all departments within the facilities team.
• Other duties as required.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
• High School diploma required with previous loading dock experience desired;
• Must be able to lift/carry up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally. May occasionally work outdoors in a variety of environmental conditions on a loading dock: may be required to stand or walk for several hours at a time during the day.
• Competency with basic computer applications; willing to learn computer programs in support of inventory and purchasing processes.
• Must maintain a reliable means of travel to and from work.
• Willing to cover for co-workers as necessary.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to function effectively in a team-based environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Knowledge of proper handling procedures for packages, chemicals, gas cylinders and other lab equipment.
• Strong customer service skills preferred.
• Computer experience preferred.
• Shipping and receiving experience preferred.
