Diet Technician (Diet Tech)

Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Diet Technician to join our team at a skilled nursing facility. The Diet Tech works closely with the Registered Dietitian and interdisciplinary team to ensure residents receive proper nutrition care in accordance with physician orders, dietary needs, and regulatory guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Registered Dietitian in implementing and monitoring nutrition care plans for residents
• Review diet orders and ensure accuracy with physician prescriptions
• Conduct resident meal rounds to monitor intake, preferences, and satisfaction
• Document nutritional intake, weights, and observations in accordance with facility policies
• Provide basic nutrition education to residents and families as directed
• Ensure compliance with state, federal, and facility dietary regulations
• Collaborate with nursing, food service, and other departments to meet residents’ nutritional needs
• Assist with menu planning and modifications for therapeutic diets
• Monitor food trays for accuracy and proper portioning
  
  
  

Qualifications:

• Associate’s Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field (preferred)
• Dietetic Technician Registered (DTR) credential preferred but not required
• Previous experience in a healthcare or long-term care setting is a plus
• Knowledge of therapeutic diets and nutrition standards
• Strong organizational and communication skills
