What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adjunct Massage Therapy Instructor position at Sandhills Community College?
Adjunct curriculum faculty will guide and direct the learning experiences of students
through knowledge, skills, and motivation. Members of the faculty agree to be
accessible to students, other faculty, staff, and to those making inquiries to the
College.
The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Develop learner-centered lesson plans
- Employ teaching strategies and use instructional materials for a variety of learning styles
- Incorporate current technology in the classroom, distance learning, and laboratory environments
- Create and model a quality learning environment that supports a diverse student population
Discourage any form of harassment, bullying, and/or abrasive behavior
directed at colleagues, students, and campus visitors.
Develop professional relationships and show courtesy and respect while
working with students; this includes respecting the confidentiality of
information shared while interacting.
Respond to emails from students, colleagues, Department Chairs, Deans,
VPs, Provost, and President in a timely and professional fashion.
- Prepare, distribute, and utilize instructional support materials including syllabi, instructional media, supplementary materials, and other devices as appropriate
- Participate in the development and review of course and program/general education outcomes as appropriate
- Conduct and document appropriate assessments of student learning outcomes in courses and programs as appropriate
- Maintain classroom and laboratory spaces including upkeep of assigned equipment
- Provide for the security of facilities, equipment, and instructional materials while working to maintain safe working conditions
- Maintain student records (grades & attendance) in accordance with established deadlines using a variety of technology-based programs (Self Service & Moodle)
- Comply with all applicable college, state, and federal rules and regulations
- Associate degree in Therapeutic Massage or higher, Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
- Minimum of three years of massage experience.
- Teaching experience a plus.
