Job Summary
Sanders Lead Company is seeking a dependable and safety-focused CDL Driver to safely transport raw materials, finished products, construction materials, heavy equipment, supplies, and other company assets between company facilities, customer locations, vendors, and approved job sites. This position supports both the Construction and Shipping Departments by ensuring materials and products are delivered accurately, securely, and on schedule while maintaining compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT), OSHA, and company safety requirements.
In addition to driving responsibilities, the CDL Driver assists with loading and unloading materials, operating forklifts and other mobile equipment (when qualified), supporting construction and shipping operations, performing inspections, completing transportation documentation, and assisting with general labor and operational needs as assigned.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class A or Class B commercial vehicles, including:
- Flatbeds
- Dump trucks
- Lowboys
- Water trucks
- Tractor-trailers
- Other authorized commercial vehicles
- Transport raw materials, finished products, construction materials, heavy equipment, supplies, scrap materials, and company equipment.
- Conduct daily pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Complete Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs), driver logs, fuel reports, mileage logs, and transportation documentation.
- Verify shipping paperwork, delivery documentation, bills of lading, quantities, and load information prior to departure.
- Properly load, secure, transport, and unload cargo using approved load securement methods.
- Obtain delivery confirmations and required customer signatures.
- Inspect transported materials to ensure safe handling and compliance with company and customer requirements.
- Monitor assigned vehicles for maintenance needs and immediately report mechanical or safety concerns.
- Maintain cleanliness and operational readiness of assigned trucks, trailers, and equipment.
- Operate forklifts, skid steers, loaders, or other material handling equipment when trained and authorized.
- Assist with loading, unloading, staging, inventory movement, material handling, and general labor activities.
- Support construction crews with material delivery, excavation support, cleanup, demolition debris removal, and other project activities as needed.
- Coordinate delivery schedules with supervisors and other departments to support operational efficiency.
- Comply with all DOT regulations, OSHA requirements, traffic laws, environmental regulations, and company policies.
- Maintain organized work areas in accordance with company housekeeping and 6S standards.
- Assist with emergency response, plant shutdowns, overtime assignments, weekend work, and special projects when required.
- Perform all other duties assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Physical Requirements
- Work performed in industrial manufacturing, shipping, warehouse, construction, and outdoor environments.
- Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
- Frequent entering and exiting commercial vehicles and equipment.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while operating commercial vehicles.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to safely secure cargo using chains, binders, straps, and related equipment.
- Exposure to heat, cold, dust, noise, moving equipment, vibration, and changing weather conditions.
- Must wear all required PPE including:
- Hard hat
- Safety glasses
- Hearing protection
- Gloves
- High-visibility clothing (when required)
- Steel-toe boots
- Respirator (when required)
Training Requirements
- Complete company orientation and new hire training.
- Successfully complete department-specific on-the-job training.
- Maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Complete DOT compliance and defensive driving training.
- Complete forklift and mobile equipment certification (when required).
- Complete cargo securement and transportation safety training.
- Complete all required annual safety and compliance training.
- Participate in additional training assigned by Sanders Lead Company.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Class A/Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Acceptable motor vehicle driving record.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical examination, and motor vehicle record review.
- Ability to safely operate commercial vehicles in industrial environments.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, emergency call-outs, and varying schedules as operational needs require.
- Strong attendance and dependability.
- Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience operating commercial trucks in manufacturing, construction, logistics, or industrial environments.
- Experience hauling heavy equipment and oversized loads.
- Experience operating forklifts, loaders, skid steers, or excavators.
- Knowledge of shipping documentation and freight handling.
- Experience with rigging, cargo securement, and heavy equipment transportation.
- Basic computer skills.
