MAST Technologies is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Visual Management & Process Improvement Intern to support our ongoing Continuous Improvement and Operational Excellence initiatives. This internship provides hands-on experience in Lean manufacturing, visual communication, 5S, and process optimization while contributing to real improvements on the production floor. The intern will be responsible for designing, implementing, and sustaining a Continuous Improvement Communication Board, capturing before-and-after improvement projects, and helping the team track and communicate progress toward operational goals. This internship is for Spring semester and is expected to run from Monday 1/19/26- Friday 4/17/26 (12 weeks) and will require 20-30 hours of availability per week. Job Accountabilities: Develop and implement a Visual Management / Continuous Improvement Board for production.Document improvement activities, including before-and-after photos, process descriptions, and impact summaries.Support process mapping, waste identification, and improvement idea generation.Track and report improvement metrics such as time savings, scrap reduction, and participation rates.Assist with 5S organization, visual labeling, floor markings, and other workplace organization projects.Partner with production team members to gather data, understand pain points, and support improvement initiatives.Help facilitate daily/weekly CI communication and updates to the board.Prepare a final presentation summarizing completed improvements and key outcomes.Job Specifications: Education: A Secondary Certificate/High School Diploma/GED and currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or a related field. Years’ Experience: 0-2 years of relevant work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations. Coursework or experience in Lean, Six Sigma, or process improvement is preferred. Skills: Strong communication and organizational skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and basic data analysis.Ability to work hands-on in a production environment.Interest in Lean, 5S, or Continuous Improvement methodologies.Experience with technical writing, process documentation, or visual design.Familiarity with manufacturing or warehouse environments.Highly motivated with a continuous improvement mindset.Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks.Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams.Proactive, curious, and eager to learn.Key Learning Outcomes: By the end of the internship, the student will gain: Practical experience applying Lean tools (5S, visual management, standard work).Understanding of Continuous Improvement strategy within a manufacturing environment.Skills in problem-solving, data collection, and process documentation.Ability to communicate improvements clearly using visual and written formats.Exposure to daily operations in a technical, aerospace/defense manufacturing environment.
