Mechanical Engineer III

Kaman Air Vehicles is seeking an experienced and motivated Mechanical Engineer III to join our team in Bloomfield, CT. In this role, you will support the design, analysis, development, and validation of engineering systems while collaborating with cross-functional teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and customers.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage engineering activities while supporting project goals and objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform engineering design and analysis of assigned systems and components.

• Prepare, review, and maintain engineering documentation, technical reports, and Statements of Work (SOW).

• Evaluate engineering documentation and participate in the validation and testing of design requirements.

• Maintain accurate engineering records related to design, testing, evaluation, and alternative solutions.

• Prepare written updates for senior management regarding project status, schedules, scope, risks, challenges, and mitigation strategies.

• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to achieve project objectives and deliverables.

• Communicate with subcontractors, suppliers, and customers to exchange technical information, provide project updates, and resolve engineering issues.

• Participate in engineering and management reviews, technical working groups, and other project-related activities.

• Coordinate with external organizations and stakeholders to support engineering initiatives.

• Provide technical guidance and support to other engineers as needed.

• Support engineering activities across various disciplines, including mechanical, structural, electrical, systems, and software design.

• Handle classified documentation in accordance with applicable industrial security requirements and company procedures.

• Perform additional duties as assigned to support engineering and business objectives.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

• 5–7 years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering or a related technical field.

• Experience with engineering design, analysis, testing, and technical documentation.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

• Ability to communicate technical information effectively with internal teams, management, suppliers, and customers.

• Demonstrated ability to provide technical direction and guidance to other engineers.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

• Experience working on complex engineering projects involving multiple technical disciplines.

• Experience supporting engineering design reviews, validation activities, and project documentation.

Salary : $92,000 - $125,000
