Responsibilities
Set up and perform manual machining operations to fabricate and repair tooling and fixtures
Build and modify tooling from print, including fixtures, grinding components, and abrasive machining tools
Interpret complex blueprints and full GD&T requirements to manufacture parts to specification
Work to tight tolerances (typically around ±.001”) while maintaining quality standards
Perform tooling processes such as grinding, lapping, polishing, and grit blasting
Support production through troubleshooting and resolving tooling and machining issues
Assist in the creation of rubberized blanks, including measuring, mixing, and processing materials through multi-step curing processes
Apply and support KAron coating processes (training provided)
Develop and document tooling procedures and best practices
Train and support operators on tooling usage and processes
Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with safety standards
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S and process enhancements
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required
- Experience: 4–6 years of hands-on toolmaker experience (tool room experience strongly preferred)
Required Skills
Strong background in manual machining (mills, lathes, grinders, etc.)
Experience building tooling and fixtures from print
Advanced understanding of GD&T and blueprint reading
Experience working with tight tolerances (±.001”)
Exposure to abrasive machining or grinding processes preferred
CNC experience is a plus but not required

Patient and detail-oriented, especially with multi-step processes
Highly organized and able to manage precise measurements and material handling
Comfortable working with non-traditional materials (e.g., rubberized/plastic compounds)
