Duties
- Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims using DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) ICD 10 coding standards to ensure proper reimbursement.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies to maximize revenue recovery.
- Collaborate with A/R team to gather necessary documentation and resolve billing discrepancies promptly.
- Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems to input data, track claims status, and update patient records efficiently.
- Maintain detailed records of billing activities, claim submissions, adjustments, and collections for audit purposes.
- Stay current with changes in medical coding guidelines, insurance policies, and healthcare regulations to ensure compliance.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing with a strong understanding of medical terminology, medical records management, and coding practices.
- Familiarity with DRG, CPT coding, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems is essential.
- Knowledge of medical billing processes including claim submission, follow-up, appeals, and collections.
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for accurate data entry and record keeping.
- Familiarity with HIPAA claim formats, notably the UB04 and HCFA-1500 paper forms
- Ability to interpret medical records accurately and apply appropriate codes consistently.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure error-free billing operations.
