ABOUT THE ROLE
The Executive Chef at Horizon Kitchen Spirits is responsible for overseeing all culinary operations, ensuring the highest level of food quality, presentation, and service for every guest. This role involves managing a team of kitchen staff, developing innovative menus, ensuring consistency in food preparation, maintaining kitchen inventory, and adhering to health and safety regulations. The Executive Chef will collaborate with the management team to elevate the dining experience and contribute to the overall success of the resort's hospitality services, creating a memorable culinary experience for every guest.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Menu Development & Planning
- Design and update seasonal menus for the restaurant, including casual dining, formal events, and special functions
- Ensure menus align with the company brand and the preferences of guests
- Develop and introduce unique and creative culinary offerings for special events, tournaments, and member activities
- Supervise all kitchen staff in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food following established standards
- Maintain a smooth and efficient kitchen operation to ensure timely and consistent delivery of high-quality food
- Oversee food production for large-scale events, including concerts, weddings, corporate events, banquets, and tournaments
Staff Management
- Recruit, train, and manage kitchen staff, ensuring they adhere to high culinary standards and maintain a positive work environment
- Develop and schedule staff shifts, ensuring proper coverage for all kitchen operations
- Provide ongoing training so staff understand techniques, safety, and guest service expectations
Inventory & Budgeting
- Manage all food and supply ordering, vendor relationships, and receiving; conduct weekly inventory counts and reconcile against sales. Accountability for these areas must be unambiguous.
- Maintain proper stock levels and meet food safety and quality standards
- Control food and labor costs while maintaining high quality and presentation standards
Health & Safety Compliance
- Ensure all food safety and sanitation standards are consistently met, in compliance with local health codes and regulations
- Monitor kitchen cleanliness and organization to maintain a safe and hygienic work environment
- Enforce strict food handling procedures and maintain safe cooking practices
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with resort management, including event planners, to plan and execute events, ensuring a seamless guest experience
- Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff to ensure coordination and smooth service
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure quality ingredients and cost control
- Interact with guests and resolve customer issues related to food quality, timing, or dietary needs
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years in management role as an Executive Chef or in a similar role, ideally in a high-volume kitchen environment
- Event experience is a plus
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and culinary trends
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills
- Solid understanding of kitchen management, budgeting, and cost control
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards of food quality and cleanliness
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments
- Experience coaching and communication with Front of House (FoH)
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and food sanitation practices
- Passion for delivering exceptional culinary experiences and hospitality
- Basic Microsoft Word, Excel, and overall administrative skills
- Bilingual in Spanish desired
