Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Nutrition Services Registered Dietitian (RD) Manager, the Nutrition Services Registered Dietitian (RD) Supervisor is responsible for oversight of nutrition clinical care and food service administration of their assigned centers. This includes ensuring and conducting that all RDs appropriately evaluate the participant's nutritional status, develop and implement nutritional care plans, assess nutrient requirements, recommend oral nutrition supplements, evaluate participant tolerance and effectiveness of nutritional goals, and communicate nutritional data and information to the physicians and other health care professionals. The RD Supervisor may, as needed, carry a case load (panel) and will train RDs and kitchen staff to effectuate all planning, organizing, implementing and closing the loop for clinical nutrition and food service operations. The RD Supervisor will oversee outcomes for the department and provide monthly quality and productivity reports to the RD Manager. The RD Supervisor is responsible for the oversight of SD PACE Food Services, CACFP program, and nutrition department, including, Registered Dietitians (RDs), Kitchen Coordinators, Kitchen Aides and support staff. Essential Functions of the Job: Will ensure that kitchen staff and RDs follow CACFP guidelines at all times. Will be a point of contact for the CACFP and will be responsible for timely submission of CNIPs monthly report, and all CACFP required documentation, such as the quarterly CACFP Site Monitoring Review. Will be responsible for the CACFP program, ensuring that all education, staff training, documentation, and regulations are followed up in a timely manner. Supervision of assessments and reassessments as indicated by nutrition standards to determine the nutritional status of participants and develop plans accordingly. Supervision of RD IDT functions, ensuring RDs attend all meetings and works collaboratively with other team members implementing participant education. As assigned, conduct robust nutrition assessments, care planning and periodic re-assessments (at least every 180 days) of participant's cases. Assures that food provided to participants is safe, appetizing, and in accordance with the Academy of Nutrition Dietetics standards Ensures the provision of appropriate supervision, training, and appropriate guidance to all food services team. Provides feedback to assigned team members, conducts 90 day and annual evaluations, competencies, and corrective action as needed. Supervision of dietary counseling and education to participants and caregivers as part of the nutrition service of the Center and as ordered by physician and according to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) standards. Ensure therapeutic diets are served as ordered and prepared according to AND standards. Supervision of documentation, ensuring all relevant aspects of nutritional care for participants is in accordance with San Diego PACE standards and participant changes are documented appropriately in the medical record and communicated to team members. Ensures sufficient staff are employed, oriented, and trained and their working hours are scheduled to provide for the nutritional needs of the participants and to maintain the service areas. If nutritional employees are assigned duties in other areas, ensure those duties do not interfere with the sanitation, safety or time required for work assignments. Assigns food service personnel, evaluate work performance and make recommendations for personnel actions. Provides appropriate food handling training and resources for the nutrition department. Monitors nutrition services and delivery by the professional and support staff. Supervision of individual and group nutrition education and documentation of the activity. Assists with development of breakfast, lunch and snack menu in accordance with CACFP guidelines and meal patterns. Trains all food service staff on hygiene, sanitation, meal patterns, meal counts and food policies. Submits any required reports to management in a timely manner. Additional Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain and follow established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops. Attend meetings as required and participate on committees as directed. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. Job Requirements Education Required: Bachelor's Degree from an AND-accredited institution with a major in Dietetics or Nutrition and completion of nutrition in a dietetic internship or practical experience as a dietetic intern. Education Preferred: Masters in Nutrition. Certifications/Licenses Required: Registration with AND. Certifications/Licenses Preferred: CDCES status preferred Experience Required: Completion of a dietetic internship or practical experience as a dietetic intern. Knowledge of long-term care nutritional needs. Experience Preferred: Master's Degree or five years of supervisory experience in nutrition services, with at least two years of program development in a congregate facility or community services agency. Familiarity with the Older Americans Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, and Area Agencies on Aging. Supervisory Experience: May supervise food service, support staff and program aids. Technical Knowledge and Skills Required to Perform the Job: Skill in developing nutrition plans that stimulate compromised patients to eat. Familiarity with the Older Americans Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, and Area Agencies on Aging. Bilingual (Spanish/English). Good oral and written communication. Computer literate. Ability to establish and maintain therapeutic relationships and to participate in a multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary team. Equipment Used: Computer, fax and telephone Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: Physical clearance for reaching, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling and grasping; have full range of motion; ability to lift 50 lbs; ability to lift and transfer participants; T.B. clearance; must maintain current first aid and CPR. Working Traits Commitment to long-term care in a community setting and promoting maximum patient independence and functional ability. Universal Requirements: Pre-employment requirements include I-9, physical, positive background and reference check results, complete application, new hire orientation, pre-employment PPDs. Compliance with all mandated vaccinations and all boosters is a term and condition of employment.
