Responsibilities
Assist dentists with a wide range of dental procedures, including restorative, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are ready for patient appointments. Take dental X-rays using advanced imaging technology such as 3D scanners while maintaining strict infection control protocols. Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, managing suction devices, and ensuring patient comfort throughout procedures. Ensure safety during procedures. Adhere to HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient privacy and handling medical records responsibly. Support the dental reception team by managing appointment scheduling, patient check-in/out processes, and answering patient inquiries professionally.
Experience
Previous experience working in a dental clinic environment is highly preferred, especially with general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, or endodontics. Familiarity with dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding enhances your ability to document accurately and communicate effectively with team members. Hands-on experience with dental assisting techniques such as aseptic technique, infection control practices, and anatomy knowledge is essential. Proficiency in using systems like Eaglesoft is advantageous. Knowledge of X-ray procedures, 3D scanners, and other medical imaging tools will support your success in this role. Certification in chairside assisting or related fields is a plus but not mandatory; ongoing training opportunities are available for motivated candidates. A strong understanding of HIPAA compliance ensures the confidentiality of all patient information is maintained at all times.
