The impact you will have: Groundskeepers maintain more than 40 properties across San José Unified, ensuring our grounds are beautiful, clean, and safe for our 25,000 students and 3,000 employees. Our Lead Groundskeeper will assist the Head Groundskeeper in identifying and addressing San José Unified’s facility needs by providing training, mentorship, and support, as well as by performing grounds duties at various sites. With a focus on continuous improvement, you model best practices and contribute to the growth and success of our facilities and grounds team.As the Lead Groundskeeper, you will assist the Head Groundskeeper in overseeing daily operations and be responsible for (but not limited to):Coordinating and guiding the work of Groundskeepers to ensure efficient and high-quality maintenance of district grounds.Performing advanced grounds maintenance duties, including irrigation troubleshooting, minor repairs, and special projects.Supporting inventory management, ensuring tools and materials are available and properly maintained.Promoting and enforcing safety and compliance procedures throughout daily work activities.Operating and assisting others with forklifts, mowers, and specialized equipment, ensuring proper use and care.Demonstrating initiative, reliability, and professionalism as a role model for the grounds team.What you need for this position: Completion of 12th grade or equivalentResume and Letter of Introduction outlining desire and qualifications for this position Three (3) years of experience operating heavy power equipmentFMCSA Clearinghouse Registration at https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov/Preferred Within the first six months of employment:Medical CertificateClass A California Driver’s LicenseIndustrial Lift Truck Operator’s PermitLocation:Maintenance DepartmentMaintenance Department1.0 FTE - 40hrs./week - 6:30am-3:00pm12-Month PositionNote to internal applicants: Even though we may have some information on file for you, we encourage you to submit a letter of introduction highlighting your qualifications and interest in this role, as well as any other information you would like to share.
