What are the responsibilities and job description for the CLINICAL REGISTERED DIETITIAN - LEAD position at San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Oversee the nutritional well-being of clients by conducting nutrition assessments, identifying patients at risk, creating diet plans, and analyzing the effectiveness of interventions. Maintains cycle menu plans and recipes. Provides oversight and adequate consultation, in maintaining standards set by the federal and state agencies for the food and nutrition department. Participates in Performance Improvement and other clinical committee meetings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES (not all inclusive):
- Completes competent nutritional assessments, follow-up notes, and provides education for patients according to San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital's policy and procedures and the standards of practice set by the Commission of Dietetic Registration.
- Maintains policy and procedures for patient and therapeutic clinical nutrition and reviews and approves dietary policies.
- Participates in education/in-service, Performance Improvement, clinical committee meetings, Wellness activities and community outreach and the like.
- Maintains a cycle menu and recipes for patients.
- Provides oversight and consultation to the department Director to maintain standards set forth by Title 22 and CIHQ.
- Supervises clinical RDs ensuring standards of practices and SGMH core values are met.
- Participate in patient satisfaction assessments and problem solving.
- Participates in all survey processes and writes up any needed plans of correction with the Department Director.
- Assists in education of physicians and the health care team regarding nutrition care and practices.
- Actively participates in Performance Improvement, attending meetings, collecting data, presenting, working with other departments, and finding opportunities for improvement in food service and clinical areas.
- Provides staff education, both with food and nutrition, and nursing staff as appropriate (in-services, nursing education days)
- Keeps current with county, state and federal guidelines for nutrition care and food service.
- Coordinates with the Infection Control Office/Administrative Designee to ensure compliance. Participate in staff performance audits and training needs.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in nutrition, Dietetics, or related field from an ACEND-accredited program.
Licensure:
- Registered Dietician Nutritionist (RN/RDN) credential required.
- Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
Experience:
- Minimum of three years of experience in a clinical setting required.
Other Skills:
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills and ability to speak concisely to patients, physicians, and care team members.
- Demonstrates an attitude of co-operation and professionalism.
- Computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong analytical thinking and the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Able to work in, manage and deal with stressful situations.

- Estimated pay based on qualifications (including but not limited to experience, education, certifications, and licensure where applicable).
