The incoming Executive Director will lead a thriving organization known for its rigorous, unbiased scientific research and strong regional partnerships during an exciting period of growth. This visionary leader will be responsible for advancing the organization's mission, enhancing financial sustainability, and expanding its outreach while maintaining its strong team culture and deep regional impact.
Reporting to SFEI's joint board, the Executive Director will oversee a team of seven directors. This next leader will strengthen management practices, diversify the funding base, invest in staff well-being, and foster a transparent, collaborative environment that encourages innovation. This role requires a strong communicator who can engage diverse audiences from scientific experts to community groups, and translate complex science into compelling narratives. The ideal candidate brings a strategic outlook, intellectual curiosity, and a commitment to scientific integrity. Compensation
This is a full-time, exempt, benefit-eligible position. The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $200,000–$240,000, as well as a comprehensive benefits package.
Location
SFEI is based in Richmond, California, in the San Francisco Bay Area. This position requires regular in-person presence at SFEI’s offices and regular travel throughout the Bay Area for stakeholder engagement, partner meetings, and public events. Hybrid and flexible work arrangements are supported.
