Temporary summer position for camp sessions for weeks of: June 15-19, June 22-26, July 13-17, July 20-24, July 27-31 Who We Are The San Domenico summer camp program offers children aged 4-18 a rich assortment of sports, academic, and enrichment programs, including art, music, digital art, film, and STEM-oriented programs. Our camps are located on San Domenico’s beautiful 515 acre campus in San Anselmo. About this role Reporting to the Director of Auxiliary Services, the Summer Camp Aquatics Director/Head Lifeguard oversees all pool operations and ensures patron safety at the San Domenico School Pool. This role is responsible for emergency prevention and response, active supervision of swimming areas, and assisting swimmers as needed. The Director/Head Lifeguard also supervises Summer Camp lifeguards, upholding consistent safety protocols and professional standards while fostering a safe, welcoming environment and maintaining clean, organized pool facilities.

Job Responsibilities Supervise and manage summer camp lifeguards with daily meetings before and after shifts, scheduling breaks and rotations, and ensuring summer camp lifeguards are monitoring the pool correctly. Ensure safety in and around the pool. Apply knowledge and skills from lifeguard and first aid training to keep pool users safe in the water and on the pool deck. Prevention of accidents is better than dramatic rescues. Be focused and alert at all times. Provide basic first aid to the full extent of your training to anyone on the site who has an injury. Know what first aid supplies are on hand and be able to use them appropriately. Be professional and compassionate. Safety first; educate respectfully: Explain and educate before criticizing whenever possible (safety is #1). Be responsive, attentive, and courteous to children and parents, but avoid taking focus away from swimmers in the pool. Know the San Domenico Pool Rules. Determine if a camper is able to swim in the deep end by administering a swim test. Swim Test: watch a swimmer swim the length of the pool without assistance. Perform related duties as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications Ability to respond quickly and appropriately in emergency situations Demonstrated reliability and punctuality; responsible for securing shift coverage if availability changes after schedule finalization Attention to details ? Must be 21 years or older ? 2 Years of Lifeguarding Experience ? Current Lifeguard/ CPR/ AED/ First Aid certification required, or must be successfully completed by the 1st day of work ? Strong communication skills with a positive attitude towards customer service ? Demonstrated responsibility and initiative Maintain a constant look-out of things that could be problems. Personal cell phone use is not permitted while actively supervising the pool or during assigned duty shifts, except in emergencies. ? Understanding of San Domenico Pool Rules and Hours ? Expect to work an average of at least 12 hours per week. Hours 12:30pm - 3:30pm Monday-Friday
