The Strategic Communications and Information Department is seeking a skilled communications professional with experience planning and implementing strategic communications initiatives, preparing public information materials, managing media relations, and supporting organizational leaders with effective messaging. The ideal candidate possesses exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear and concise communications for diverse audiences. They demonstrate sound judgment, build and maintain strong media relationships, and effectively represent the organization in public, media, and community settings. Bilingual oral and written communication skills in Spanish are highly desirable. POSITION SPECIFICS: Working Location: Strategic Communications & Information Department 4100 Normal Street, Room 2244, San Diego, CA 92103 Work schedule: Full-time. 12 months The position is paid on the AASD Classified Supervisors Salary Schedule, Supervisor Schedule I, Salary Plan 0601, Grade 040. Qualifies for District Paid health and wellness benefits for employee and dependents Experience in the following areas are preferred, but not required. Education, government, nonprofit, or public agency communications Crisis communications On-camera and public speaking Bilingual oral and written communication skills in Spanish are highly desirable. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: Any combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to graduation from a recognized college with a major in communications, media relations, public relations, or journalism, which may include coursework in marketing, business administration, or public administration, and two years of recent, progressively responsible, directly related experience in communications, media relations, public relations, or community relations. Licenses and Other Requirements: Oral and written skills in Spanish or other foreign language may be required for designated positions. [Candidates considered for positions that prefer bilingual skills may be invited to a Performance Test (Qualifying Only) for oral and written fluency.]
