Job Summary

Hospitality, Tourism, and Recreation (Culinary Arts Barista Training): this program prepares students for careers in the dynamic food and beverage industry, with a specific focus on barista skills and coffee service. *Hours/Location: Up to 15 hours a week @ Innovations (Vista, CA); Up to 15 hours a week @ Monarch (San Diego, CA)

The Juvenile Court and Community Schools (JCCS) provides a fully accredited educational program for school-age youth who are either wards of the court or have been referred by social services, probation, or one of the 42 school districts in San Diego County. Services are provided to incarcerated youth, pregnant minors, foster youth, expelled teens, and chronically truant youth, students in drug treatment centers and group homes for neglected or abused children, and homeless youth.

CREDENTIALS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Designated Subjects Teaching credential authorizing service in the appropriate content area being taught. Possession of or ability to obtain cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification that covers infant, child, and adult CPR skills.

EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or equivalent verification

EXPERIENCE:
Candidates must be able to verify three years (3,000 hours) of professional work experience in appropriate field, with at least one year of hands-on experience and recency of one year in the last five years, or two years within the last 10 years.

These documents are required to evaluate and verify your qualifications for the position and/or credential requirements (if you do not currently hold a valid CA CTE credential in appropriate field).

This unique job process requires a separate application with the CA Commission on Teacher Credentialing and associated fees (~$400) and enrollment in the credentialing program (total cost is $2,300, paid as you enroll in each class), in addition to the completion of pre-employment paperwork and fingerprints conducted through Livescan service if they do not already have cleared fingerprints through the San Diego County Fingerprint Clearinghouse. SDCOE Fingerprint Clearinghouse out-of-pocket fee is $80.

Please note that your completed online application must include all of the required supplemental documentation attached. Emailed or Faxed supplemental documents will not be accepted. Incomplete applications will not be considered. All required California Credentials (if applicable, as issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing) must be confirmed prior to employment with SDCOE.
