Job Summary

The San Diego County Office of Education is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant I.

Typically reporting to a Director, the Administrative Assistant I provides a wide variety of administrative and technical clerical duties for an assigned administrator; assigned tasks may include assisting with budget(s), preparing reports, and special projects.

The current assignment is located in San Diego CA as part of the Curriculum and Instruction/Teaching, Learning, and Student Services department in the Learning and Leadership Services division within SDCOE.

Please note that while this current assignment is for the location listed, employees of SDCOE may be administratively reassigned to other locations based on organizational needs.

Please note that this position(s) is funded through grant and/or specially-funded programs.

Requirements / Qualifications

This position requires a combination of education and/or experience equivalent to graduation from high school and two years of administrative assistant or secretarial support experience. Course work in advanced secretarial, communications, business or a related field is desirable.

Certificates and Licenses:

Some positions in this classification may be designated as bilingual required or bilingual preferred. All incumbents who pass a bilingual assessment in this classification are eligible for a bilingual stipend, which is issued only when all contractual conditions outlined in the Classified employee collective bargaining agreement are met.

Type of examination(s) for this classification:

Open Examination: A competitive examination in which any qualified person may participate, whether or not the person is a current Office of Education employee.

Applications will be reviewed, and candidates whose qualifications most closely match the classification requirements will be invited to participate in a competitive examination process. The examination process may consist of one or more of the following examination components: a multiple-choice examination, an oral examination, a written examination, a practical demonstration, a performance examination, and/or a technical evaluation of the application.

The results of this recruitment will be used to establish an eligibility list to fill the current vacancy and any other vacancies in this classification for the next six (6) months, or until the list is terminated.
