Requirements / Qualifications
**ATTENTION CURRENT SBCSS EMPLOYEES** Lateral transfers (same position title) are only required to apply on Ed join and attach a letter of interest. NECESSARY MATERIALS FOR APPLICATION: •Completed Ed-Join Online Application (incomplete application will not be considered. All fields must be filled in); •Current Résumé; •Copy of Level 4 Interpreter Certification (SEE: Minimum Qualifications for additional options); •One (1) current (signed and dated within 3 years) Letter of Reference. •Applicants must meet minimum qualifications and attach all necessary materials to online application to qualify as a candidate for interview.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • One (1) year full-time experience using American Sign Language (ASL), preferably working with children. (Verifiable, supervised experience as a volunteer in a school or related organizational activity may be substituted for the work experience on an equal time basis); • Certification by the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or equivalent; - OR – Passage of Level 4 Certification or higher from a California State Approved Interpreter Skills Evaluation Test, i.e., Educational Interpreters Performance Assessment (EIPA), Educational- Sign Skills Evaluation-Interpreter and Receptive (ESSE-I/R) or the National Association of the Deaf/American Consortium of Certified Interpreters (NAD/ACCI) assessment. If providing Cued Language transliteration, a transliterator shall possess TEC Unit certification or have achieved a score of 4.0 or above on the EIPA - Cued Speech. •Possession of a high school diploma or its equivalence of a GED or higher.
