Position Summary:Provides technical assistance, training, and hands-on remediation support to faculty to ensure online courses and digital instructional materials comply with accessibility standards and regulations.
Representative Duties:The duties listed below are representative and may not include all responsibilities assigned to the position.
- Provides direct support to faculty in the remediation, review, and development of accessible Canvas courses and digital instructional materials to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title II, Section 504, Section 508, and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
- Assists faculty in identifying, evaluating, and resolving accessibility barriers within online instructional content, including Canvas pages, Word documents, PDFs, presentations, spreadsheets, multimedia, videos, captions, and other digital learning resources.
- Utilizes accessibility evaluation and remediation tools, including Canvas Accessibility Checker, UDOIT, WAVE, Axe, Adobe Acrobat Accessibility Checker, Microsoft Accessibility Checker, and related technologies to conduct accessibility reviews, audits, and remediation activities.
- Provides individualized coaching, consultations, workshops, drop-in support sessions, training, and technical assistance regarding accessible instructional design, digital accessibility standards, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) practices.
- Collaborates with Distance Education, instructional support staff, instructional technology personnel, and other campus stakeholders to support institutional accessibility initiatives, equitable access to instructional content, and continuous improvement of digital learning environments.
- Research and maintains current knowledge of accessibility laws, regulations, standards, and emerging best practices; assists in the development of procedures, guidelines, training materials, and resources related to instructional accessibility and digital content compliance.
- Maintains records, tracking systems, and reports related to accessibility reviews, remediation activities, training participation, and compliance efforts.
- Performs related duties as required.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Minimum QualificationsEducation:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Accessibility Studies, Computer Science, Education, or a related field.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Employment Requirements:- Submit to and successfully pass DOJ live scan/fingerprinting. Cost of live-scan services to be borne by candidate.
- Sealed official transcript(s) in envelope from institution or electronic copies emailed directly from institution (for positions with higher education requirement)
- Tuberculosis (TB) risk assessment

Salary : $20 - $49
