Position Summary
Perform receptionist duties, including answering switchboard calls, greeting district staff and visitors, and directing
them to the appropriate location, providing general information, and assisting with other various clerical support
activities.
Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities
1. Reporting to management and performing administrative duties.
2. Welcome and assist visitors in a friendly and professional manner with basic inquiries from the public.
3. Provide general information about the district via telephone or walk-ins, including campus/district
directions, hours of operation of departments and campuses, and district/community events to
employees, stakeholders, and the public.
4. Answer telephone calls, as well as screen and forward calls; schedule and confirm appointments,
meetings, and events.
5. Keep the reception area tidy and observe professional etiquette.
6. Maintain current telephone extension, various voice messages associated with holidays and district
closings.
7. Maintain general office documents; filing, copying, and scanning. Monitor office supplies and ordering
replacements and other administrative duties with minimal supervision.
8. Perform other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities expected
for this position.
Minimum Requirements
• High school diploma or GED equivalent or higher recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional
accrediting agency.
• 2 years of experience in a similar role to included customer service, telephone etiquette, multi-line
- Exceptional ability to create a welcoming environment.
- Experience in answering and screening calls, as well as scheduling appointments.
- Ability to observe business etiquette and maintain a professional appearance.
- Experience working with word processing, spreadsheets, and emails, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and
- Working knowledge of printers, copiers, scanners, and fax machines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
