General Description: The primary objectives of this position are to provide support, leadership, and engagement opportunities to all volunteers at the San Antonio Food Bank -Haven for Hope Kitchen and to build/maintain strong relationships with organizations and individuals in the volunteer space.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all aspects of volunteer activities to prepare, serve, and organize meals for campus residents.
- Assure proper training of volunteers to include job specifics and safety.
- Maintain an active role and help to oversee kitchen sanitation and proper meal preparation in accordance to local Health Department regulations.
- Maintain complete engagement within the San Antonio Food Bank Salesforce database, keeping records up to date at all times and utilizing tasks to develop portfolio.
- Develop relationships and make solicitations to procure volunteer hours and other engagement strategies from corporations, schools, clubs and other organizations.
- To identify new potential sources of support.
- Seek opportunities to nominate volunteers for community recognition.
- Assist in the facilitation of the contract.
- Act as liaison between the company and volunteers and mediates problems that may arise so that there is always a positive volunteer experience at the Food Bank.
- To comply with and abide by all personnel policies and accept additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Availability to work a variety of hours, to include days, evenings and weekends. Work schedule includes Saturday & Sunday plus 3 days during the week, typically 10am to 7pm.
- College degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Work experience in volunteer development preferred.
- Basic kitchen safety knowledge and knife skills preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Skills in computer applications i.e. word processing and database management.
- Public speaking and customer service experience strongly preferred.
- Good judgment and discretion.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Ability to organize work, time, and self.
- Orientation to detail, accuracy, and the meeting of deadlines.
- Ability to work cooperatively with other Food Bank staff and volunteers.
- Ability to present a professional demeanor under a variety of conditions.
