San Antonio Academy of Texas seeks a Transportation Specialist starting immediately.
This position is an integral part of the school’s operations and is a full time 12-month position with a generous
benefits plan.
Reporting to the Director of Facilities, the school is seeking a skilled Transportation Specialist to operate a 44
passenger Multifunction School Activity Bus (MFSAB) and 15 passenger van, as well as assist various Facilities
departments when not performing their driving duties.
Being reliable with a collaborative, professional work ethic is required. The ideal candidate will have
experience and solid technical knowledge and must also possess manual dexterity and physical stamina.
Qualifications:
Key Duties and Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
• Safely operate a bus or van over a designated route, adhering to schedule and obeying traffic laws.
• Pick up and drop off passengers at scheduled stops
• Conduct pre- and post- trip inspections of the vehicle for mechanical issues
• Monitor passenger behavior, maintain order, and enforce rules to ensure a safe environment for everyone
• Complete necessary paperwork, including reports for accidents, vehicle problems, and mileage records
• Perform minor cleaning and basic maintenance on the vehicle
• Adhere to strict timetables and adapt to changes in the schedule
• Collaborate with all members of school community in an articulate and courteous manner during completion of duties
• Perform any other duties as assigned
• Report daily to Director of Facilities
Job Requirements:
• Currently hold or be able to quickly acquire a valid Texas CDL-B with P, S, air brake, and GVWR over 26,001 lbs. endorsements
• Proven experience in a similar position
• Maintain a clean driving record
• Possess strong decision-making skills, knowledge for safety regulations, and defensive driving practices
• Remain calm and focused in stressful situations and have good problem-solving abilities
• Have excellent time-management and multitasking abilities
• Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and work ethic
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds
• High school diploma or equivalent
