POSITION SUMMARY
A Plant Drafter will coordinate and supervises assignments and related work performed by contractors, junior designers, and technical support staff, or plans and completes highly technical concepts. Optimize facilities for safe and effective flow of work. Positioning industrial plant designs in the most effective manner. Has a detailed understanding of how to optimize work processes and interdisciplinary communication from conceptual design through construction of a heavy-industrial project.
Work is closely managed and reviewed for accuracy and adequacy. Follows specific, outlined, and detailed directions.
Provides resolution to problems that are readily identifiable with limited scope and are resolved in accordance with standard practices, procedures, applications or routines.
Problem/Task resolution timeframe: The majority of tasks typically take one to two days to resolve.
Contacts are primarily with direct supervisors and others in group or department to give and receive information.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Plant Drafter Intern
- Works closely with a member of the team to enhance knowledge and skillset.
- Learns and implements the Company’s Best Practices for projects and processes.
- Assist on simple plant drafter concepts with oversight from a mentor.
Plant Drafter IV
- Works closely with member of the team and assist to complete projects in a timely manner.
- Implements and utilizes the Company’s Best Practices for projects and processes.
- Working knowledge of plant drafter design and development.
Plant Drafter III
- Prepares complete drawings and diagrams, with computer aided tools, from sketches and layouts in accordance with established practices and techniques.
- Performs work according to established practices and guidelines to produce complete drawings of moderate complexity, including CAD corrections.
- Study code requirements; Review plans for code compliance
Plant Drafter II
- Prepares original drawings and diagrams which involve extensive and complex details.
- Produces complex and complete drawings and diagrams with a high degree of technical accuracy and normally using CAD equipment and techniques, including CAD corrections.
- Plans the presentation of work, chooses drafting methods, limits, fits and production or construction methods.
Plant Drafter I
- Designs and makes detail drawings from rough sketches involving intricate calculations and the application of fundamental engineering principles.
- Makes decisions and recommendations on highly technical drafting issues
- Exercises considerable judgment and initiative in interpreting policy and in the planning and implementation of major programs and work assignments
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS PER JOB LEVEL
- Plant Drafter Intern – Junior or Senior Year of High School.
- Plant Drafter IV – High School Diploma.
- Plant Drafter III – High School Diploma; two (2) years of experience.
- Plant Drafter II – High School Diploma; four (4) years of experience.
- Plant Drafter I – Technical/Trade or equivalent; six (6) years of experience.
