Position Summary:
The Phlebotomist is responsible for the accurate and timely collection of blood and other laboratory specimens while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and confidentiality. This role supports clinical services by following established procedures for specimen handling, documentation, and compliance with regulatory standards. The Phlebotomist provides compassionate, patient-centered care and works collaboratively with the medical team in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Bilingual in English/Spanish required.
Medical Assistant certification preferred.
This position requires you to have a state phlebotomy license.
Experience:
One year of phlebotomy experience in a Federal Qualified Health Center is preferred.
Additional Requirements:
Ability to successfully complete an initial and annual physical examination and TB test, as well as pass an initial agency-conducted background check. Must consistently present a positive image of the organization and foster a warm, friendly, and welcoming environment for all health center visitors. Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills are required, along with strong organizational, problem-solving, time management, customer service, and multitasking abilities. Exceptional attention to detail, quality focus, and strong telephone and customer service skills are essential. Must be proficient in the use of office and medical equipment, as well as Practice Management and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems. Ability to perform job duties with minimal supervision and exercise sound judgment in decision-making is required.
Must be able to apply and comply with agency policies and procedures as well as all regulatory standards.
Expected to obtain within 90 days of hiring a CPR and First Aid Certification.
Working Conditions:
Due to the nature of Community Health Centers, this job involves exposure to blood, bodily fluids or tissues and possible exposure to communicable diseases. This job involves sitting for long periods of time as well as standing, stooping or squatting and must be able to lift 20 pounds.
Schedule:
Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. However, the schedule may change depending on the needs of the agency.

Essential Functions (includes but not limited to):
- Collect specimens according to established procedures. This includes, but not limited to: drug screens, bio-metric screening and insurance exams.
- Administer oral solutions according to established training.
- Research test/client information and confirm and verify all written and electronic orders by utilizing lab technology systems, Client contact, and approved tools.
- Ability to navigate a computer and accurately enter data is a requirement to be successful in this role.
- Obtain identification and accurately enter billing information and collect payments when required, following corporate policies.
- Processing specimens including: labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing and preparing for transport as required by test order.
- Perform all non-patient facing duties, including inventory, stock supplies, sanitizing, filing, annual calibrations, answering phones and utilizing email as appropriate.
- Read, understand and comply with departmental policies, protocols and procedures.
- Assist with compilation and submission of statistics and data when required.
- Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner and based on frequency, such as maintenance logs and temperature logs.
- Complete online and in person training courses timely.

Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
