What are the responsibilities and job description for the Identity Management Consultant position at Samson Software Solutions, Inc.?
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Okta Architect for a contract opportunity supporting a government client in Northern Virginia. This role is ideal for a senior identity and access management professional with 8–10 years of experience designing, architecting, and implementing enterprise authentication and access management solutions using Okta.
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on technical architect who can translate security requirements into scalable, secure, and reliable identity solutions. The primary focus is on Okta architecture, Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), authentication policies, and enterprise identity security.
This is an Okta security and access architecture position, not an Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) role. Candidates whose primary experience is in identity governance, access certifications, or identity lifecycle management without strong Okta authentication architecture experience will not be the right fit.
Key Responsibilities
Design and architect enterprise Okta solutions supporting secure authentication, authorization, and access management.
Develop and implement Okta Single Sign-On (SSO) solutions and authentication integrations for enterprise applications.
Architect and configure Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) strategies to strengthen identity security and meet organizational security requirements.
Design and optimize Okta authentication policies, sign-on policies, and access controls based on security requirements and user access scenarios.
Establish secure authentication patterns and identity access standards aligned with enterprise security architecture.
Evaluate existing identity and authentication environments and recommend architectural improvements to enhance security, scalability, and reliability.
Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance for Okta implementations, integrations, and enhancements.
Collaborate with security, infrastructure, application, and engineering teams to integrate Okta into the broader technology environment.
Troubleshoot complex authentication and SSO issues and provide architectural direction for resolution.
Document architecture designs, technical standards, integration patterns, and implementation recommendations.
Required Qualifications
8–10 years of relevant experience in identity and access management, authentication architecture, or enterprise identity security.
Strong hands-on experience architecting and implementing Okta solutions.
Deep understanding of Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and enterprise authentication flows.
Demonstrated experience designing and implementing Okta authentication and sign-on policies.
Experience integrating enterprise applications with Okta for secure authentication and access.
Ability to operate at the architecture level, including solution design, technical decision-making, security recommendations, and implementation guidance.
Strong understanding of identity security principles, authentication controls, and access management best practices.
Excellent technical communication and documentation skills.
Ability to work onsite three days per week in Herndon, Northern Virginia.
Must be a U.S. citizen due to government-client requirements.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a seasoned Okta technical architect who has led the design of enterprise authentication solutions rather than simply administering an existing Okta environment. This individual should be comfortable defining architecture, establishing authentication policies, designing SSO and MFA solutions, and guiding implementation teams through complex identity security requirements.
Important distinction: This position does not focus on Okta Identity Governance and Administration (IGA). The priority is Okta authentication architecture, SSO, MFA, policies, and secure application access.
Work Arrangement and Eligibility
Contract opportunity supporting a government client.
Hybrid schedule with three onsite days per week in Herndon, Virginia.
U.S. citizenship is required.
