DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Unique opportunity to positively impact Sampson County growth and development through strategic planning and direct oversight is available for the right individual with a construction background and demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills. This position manages and oversees all aspects of inspections and planning functions and provides technical assistance regarding building codes and regulations as well as enforcement to ensure the safe and compliant construction of residential and commercial buildings in the County. Computer proficiency with CAD programs and associated software combined with management and effective customer service experience are expected essential skills. A thorough understanding of building codes, laws, and ordinances and strong problem-solving skills are expected of all applicants.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Relative associate degree, considerable experience in construction and possession of Level III Building, Electrical, Mechanical and Plumbing certifications or related professional license and/or degree and experience, and a valid NC Driver's License are desired at time of hire.
Experience with planning and zoning is highly desired. Candidates must be willing to obtain planning and Level III Inspector certifications within three years of hire.
