The Department of Psychology and Philosophy at Sam Houston State University (SHSU) invites applicants for two Assistant Professor positions in Experimental Psychology to begin in Fall 2025. This is an annual 9-month, tenure-track appointment. Summer teaching contracts may be available depending on department needs.
The person filling this position will serve as a core faculty member of theSHSUExperimental Psychology Masters program and will be responsible for the following: Teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in the Department of Psychology and Philosophy. Conducting research in the candidates area of expertise with the potential for extramural support. Advising and supervising undergraduate and graduate student research, with the potential of chairing theses and dissertations. Administrative support to the MA Experimental Psychology program and its initiatives. Providing service to the Department, College, and/or University as needed
Degree Requirements
Doctoral degree in psychology with a focus on an experimental area of psychology (i.e., physiological, quantitative methods, social, cognitive, developmental, or learning).
Experience Requirements
Ability to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in selected areas of Experimental Psychology. Ability to establish a productive program of research that would include working with undergraduate and/or graduate students. Ability to contribute to program administration
Other Requirements For The Position
The position is open to any area of experimental psychology. The department is especially in need of faculty members with expertise in physiological psychology, social psychology, and/or statistics/quantitative methods.
