The Title IX Coordinator performs the following roles:
- Provides college-wide leadership for all college activities and efforts to build a safe and equitable campus community free from sexual harassment and gender discrimination;The Title IX Coordinator provides institutional leadership for compliance with federal civil rights laws prohibiting sex-based discrimination. This role oversees investigations, policy implementation, prevention initiatives, training, and campus-wide coordination to ensure a safe, equitable, and legally compliant environment for students, faculty, and staff.
- Provides strategic leadership in shaping institutional culture, policy direction, and prevention initiatives related to sex-based discrimination and harassment;
- Coordinates Salt Lake Community College’s compliance with federal and state statutory and regulatory requirements regarding sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking and gender-based discrimination on all SLCC campuses;
- Identifies and addresses any systemic problems relating to complaints and collaborates with other departments to ensure policies prohibiting and addressing SLCC’s response to allegations of sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking and gender-based discrimination are communicated to all constituencies; and
- Conducts investigations along with the Title IX/EO Investigator.

The Title IX Coordinator reports to the Director of Employee Relations. The position is responsible for the College’s compliance with Title IX. This includes the implementation of policies, procedures, protocols, Title IX education and prevention efforts.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Leads SLCC’s Title IX efforts. Serves as the Title IX Coordinator for the College.
- Develops, implements and monitors the College’s compliance program for Title IX and Title VII’s prohibition of discrimination based on sex.
- Oversees the College’s centralized review, safety and risk assessment, investigation and resolution of reports of sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking and gender-based discrimination and addresses any patterns or systemic problems that arise during the review of such complaints.
- Maintains and updates the case management system and database, ensuring all reports and investigations of sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking and gender-based discrimination are accurately recorded and tracked in the database. Oversees institutional case management systems to ensure accuracy, compliance, and data integrity across all reports and investigations.
- Takes steps to ensure the parties' equal access to the College's programs and activities and protects the parties as necessary. Such steps may include recommending supportive measures during an investigation and making the parties aware of all available resources.
- Reviews proposed sanctions for sexual misconduct before they are imposed to ensure that they are reasonably calculated to stop the sexual misconduct and prevent its recurrence.
- Collaborate with college offices and personnel to provide information, support, resources, supportive measures, and accommodations to SLCC students, faculty, and staff.
- Provides or cooperates with other SLCC offices to provide engaging and effective training, education and prevention programs related to sexual harassment, sexual violence, gender discrimination and other related topics.
- Provides and/or facilitates ongoing training, consultation and technical assistance for faculty, staff, and students; outlining their rights and obligations under Title IX, reporting options, grievance procedures, applicable disciplinary code, the employees who must report incidents of sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking and gender-based discrimination to the Title IX Coordinator, how to report such incidents, and Title IX's protections against retaliation.
- Reviews, updates and maintains SLCC policies and procedures for providing prompt and equitable resolution of student and employee complaints of conduct that violates SLCC’s prohibition of sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking and gender-based discrimination.
- Participates in ongoing training and professional development, including self-study, to ensure responsibilities of position are carried out in compliance with Title IX and its implementing regulations, developing case law, and best practices.
- Ensure protocols and practices are in place for working with local law enforcement and coordinating with local victim advocacy organizations and service providers.
- Other job duties as assigned.

- Minimum of three years of progressive experience of higher education administration with an in-depth knowledge of Title IX compliance.Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in civil rights compliance, investigations, or higher education administration, including direct experience with Title IX processes.
- Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or forensic psychology, higher education administration, or other a relevant discipline state field, or Juris Doctorate.
- Experience conducting investigations alleging harassment and/or discrimination.
- Solid understanding demonstrated knowledge of federal Title IX regulations, the Violence Against Women Act Reauthorization of 2012 (VAWA), the Clery Act, and other relevant statutes and guidance.
- Evidence of effective spoken, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including active listening.
- JD or equivalent from an accredited law school is strongly preferred.
- Title IX training or certification.
- Experience with one or more case management databases such as Maxient.
- Conflict resolution and/or mediation skills.
- Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops
