Salisbury University, a member of the University System of Maryland, is a regionally accredited four-year comprehensive institution offering 61 distinct graduate and undergraduate programs. Located on the historic Eastern Shore, SU's beautiful campus is some 30 miles from the Atlantic beaches and 2.5 hours from Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
Salisbury University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Admissions Counselor.
Primary Job Duties: Recruitment travel to high schools and college fairs, review and evaluate student applications to assess admissibility; interview prospective students; counsel prospective students and their families; respond to admissions related inquiries; evaluate transfer coursework; plan on-campus and off-campus events; and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years of related experience. Ability to present persuasively in front of an audience; relationship building skills, high motivation to achieve goals, professional presentation, skill in designing and managing on-campus and off-campus programs, valid driver’s license with less than 5 points.
Must be detail oriented and have excellent interpersonal, customer service, organization and planning, prioritization, problem solving, follow through, time management, and oral and written communication skills. Also, must be flexible and possess the ability to successfully handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously and work well under pressure, work independently and in a team-oriented environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree and professional experience in an educational environment, communication, sales and/or marketing and bi-lingual in English/Spanish preferred.
This is a full-time, exempt, State position with a full benefits package. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. The work schedule will be based upon the needs of the University and will require significant travel. Many evening and weekend hours are required with overnight stays.
