Job Summary:
Salisbury Moore is seeking a Corporate Controller to lead the Company’s accounting and finance functions. The Controller will be responsible for all general ledger and financial reporting activities of the Company, as well as overseeing the billing, accounts payable and treasury functions. The ideal candidate will be a CPA that has strong accounting, GAAP and analytical skills, with experience in construction or another long-term project environment. Four or more years’ experience with a public accounting firm and experience with mid-sized, rapidly growing companies a plus. This position will report directly to the Company’s President.

Responsibilities
- Providing accurate accounting and timely financial information
- Preparing the monthly financial reporting of the Company’s to various end users, both internal and external
- Responsible for coordinating the filing of all federal and state income tax returns which are prepared by a third-party CPA firm and the preparation and filing of state sales tax returns
- Responsible for the preparation of all requested documents for the Company’s external financial statement audit
- Develop and review accounting policies for the Company
- Responsible for monitoring new accounting standards, interpretations, and emerging guidance and their impact on the Company
- Maintenance of the project work-in-process revenue recognition schedules
- Responsible for the preparation or review of all general ledger reconciliations
- Understand key indicators and communicate changes in projections to the management team
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with senior leaders of the Company to identify their needs and aid in the execution of business solutions.
- Assists in maintaining relationships with bankers, external accountants and insurance agents
- Ensuring the continued maintenance and development of internal control procedures to provide for the protection of Company’s assets
- Oversees the training and evaluation of accounting department staff
- The Company currently has 57 employees and growing.
- Company has three separate divisions, each in its own legal entity
- The Company averages 25 to 30 active projects at one time
- Reports to President, interfaces with Board of Directors and has three direct reports.
Education and experience:
- 10 years of accounting experience with 4 years as a Controller, Assistant Controller or similar roles
- Strong understanding of construction or long-term contract accounting and job costing
- Current knowledge of GAAP
- An analytical mind and strong computer skills
- BS/BA in Business Administration, Accounting or related degree
- Required: Valid North Carolina Driver’s License
