Position Overview Launch your career with a paid summer internship at Salinas Valley Health, an award-winning 263-bed acute care hospital serving Monterey County. Volunteer Services is seeking an Intern to support the optimization of the VSys volunteer data management system. The Intern will assist in configuring system features to improve communication, streamline workflows, and reduce manual processes. Responsibilities include uploading and managing orientation materials within VSys, setting up text messaging and automated email communications, and developing standardized templates to ensure consistent documentation of volunteer interactions. The Intern will also support automation of scheduling notifications and help create a procedural guide for staff use. As time permits, the Intern will explore additional system features to further enhance efficiency. Primary Responsibilities Assist with configuration and optimization of the VSys volunteer data management system Upload orientation and re-orientation materials into VSys for automated distribution, tracking, and completion Set up and support text messaging capabilities for volunteer communications, including urgent notifications for NODA volunteers Configure automated email responses for appointment reminders and training sessions Develop and implement standardized communication templates within VSys to ensure consistent documentation in volunteer records Support automation of schedule notifications to replace manual email and scanning processes Create a procedural guide for staff on maintaining and utilizing system features Explore additional VSys functionalities to improve efficiency and streamline volunteer services operations Program Eligibility Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate degree program Preference given to Junior and Senior-level students Must be available to participate in at least 8 weeks of the 10-week program Interns will be matched with projects based on their academic field of study Work Schedule Up to 30 hours per week Internship duration: 8–10 consecutive weeks Schedule: Monday – Friday, based on organizational needs Application Requirements To be considered, applicants must complete all of the following: Submit a cover letter (1 page) that includes: A brief introduction of yourself Your interest in working at Salinas Valley Health Your preferred department and why it interests you Upload Resume Complete the online Application Incomplete applications will not be considered Location: Salinas, CA Pay Range: The hourly rate for this position is $22.00.
