Department: Environmental Services Work under the supervision of Environmental Services/Assistant Director/Supervisors. Performs a wide variety of highly demanding physical activities to assist in maintaining the hospital in a clean, sanitary, organized and attractive condition for patients, employees and visitors. Performs all other duties as assigned. Job Duties: 1. Selects and obtains materials and supplies from designated area, stocks cart and reports to assigned areas. 2. Cleans and restocks all carts and equipment at the end of shift. 3. Cleans assigned areas by performing duties per department policies and procedures. 4. Dust mops, wet mops, and/or buffs the floors using automatic equipment 5. Vacuums carpets, moving furniture and equipment as needed 6. Strip and resurface hard floors 7. Shampoo, bonnet buff and extract carpets 8. Load, unload, and transport furniture, equipment and trash cans. 9. Clean outside trash area, sweep entrances, wash windows. 10. Clean walls, vents, furnishings, fixtures, ceilings and other surfaces as directed. 11. Reports any unsafe or hazardous conditions immediately to supervisor. 12. Collect, transport and store infectious waste materials. 13. Collect and transport soiled linen throughout the facility and delivers to the Soiled Utility Room 14. Assists in performing meeting room and basic Conference Room set ups utilizing department procedures. 15. Change curtains and drapes as needed. 16. Performs other duties as assigned. 17. Promotes and Reflects the SVMHS Star Values. Job Requirements: 1. Education: Work requires a high school diploma or GED. 2. Licensure: Valid Driver’s License required. California Department of Transportation Medical Waste certificate required. New hires/Transfers have 90 days from date of hire/transfer to obtain DOT Medical Waste Certificate. 3. Experience: Preferred but not required. 4. Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Manual dexterity of all limbs. Ability to follow instructions and procedures. Ability to perform strenuous work assignments for long periods of time. Ability to operate complex machines and equipment related to housekeeping functions. 5. Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work effectively with patients, staff and visitors. Must be a team player. 6. Essential Physical Requirements: See attached “Physical Requirements Sheet” 7. Essential Mental Abilities: Ability to read, write, and speak English. Comprehension of verbal and written instructions, as well as basic math skills. The hourly rate for this position is $26.27 - $28.96. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the target for new hire salaries for this position.
