RECEPTIONIST

POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for clerical support in the outpatient medical practice including, but not limited to, greeting patients and visitors in a prompt and courteous manner, obtaining new patient and insurance information, checking in return patients, and verifying all patient information is current. The Receptionist retrieves charge tickets from patients or reviews EMR and collects applicable fees at the point of service and counsels patients regarding accounts; schedules appointments, consults, handles phone services, and manages clinic records; verifies insurance coverage and appropriate referral information; enters patient demographics into computer system; prepares daily deposits, balancing per protocol; and provides clerical/administrative support as assigned.

Demonstrates competency with appointment scheduling system by effectively coordinating and organizing patient appointments and documentation, to facilitate the smooth running of the healthcare environment and support delivery of quality patient care.
Ensures accuracy of data gathering of patient demographic data and insurance information and enters into electronic system appropriately.

Communicates with appropriate disciplines and healthcare provider to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction.
Facilitates the work flow of the clinic.

Accurately handles cash and collection of patient payments per clinic guidelines.

REQUIRED REGISTRATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
Applicable Resuscitation and other position-related certifications must be obtained within the timeframe established by SRHC policy.
