About Salesian High School

Salesian High School is a Catholic community of learning for young men sponsored by the Salesian Society of St. John Bosco. Located in New Rochelle, New York, the school forms young men in faith, intellect, leadership, and service.


Guided by the educational vision of St. John Bosco, the Salesian tradition emphasizes reason, religion, and loving kindness while fostering a family spirit within the school community. Salesian High School seeks to create an environment where students grow academically, spiritually, socially, and morally, preparing them for success in college and for lives of service and leadership.


Salesian High School operates within a two-tiered governance structure consisting of:


  • A Board of Members, composed of the Salesian Provincial and his Council
  • A Board of Trustees, responsible for major policy and strategic oversight

The school’s Administrative Leadership Team, led by the President and Principal, implements the mission and vision of the institution.


The Advancement Director works collaboratively with school leadership to support strategic priorities through philanthropic engagement.


About the Position

The Advancement Director plays a key role in strengthening philanthropic support for Salesian High School by building meaningful relationships with alumni, parents, benefactors, and community partners. Working closely with the President, school leadership, and the Advancement Team, the Advancement Director leads fundraising initiatives, coordinates major events, and cultivates a culture of giving that advances the mission and long-term sustainability of the school.


Specific duties include:

  • Coordinate and implement the Salesian High School Annual Fund, including strategies to increase

donor participation and engagement.

  • Support the Major Gift Portfolio process by assisting in the cultivation, stewardship, and

engagement of major donors.

  • Organize and implement Planned Giving and Memorial Giving initiatives that encourage legacy

support for the school.

  • Oversee marketing initiatives in furtherance of both Development and Admissions goals.
  • Serve as the lead strategist for any capital campaign, managing the team and ensuring effective

stewardship.

  • Serve as liaison to key parent, alumni and support organizations, fostering collaboration and

community engagement.

  • Coordinate the approval process for all school fundraising initiatives to ensure alignment with

institutional priorities.

  • Collaborate with the Advancement Team on donor communications, stewardship efforts, and

advancement initiatives that promote philanthropic support for Salesian High School.


Attributes of the Advancement Director


The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to the mission and values of Salesian High School and possess the ability to cultivate meaningful relationships that strengthen the school’s culture of philanthropy. The Advancement Director must be a skilled communicator who can engage alumni, parents, benefactors, and community partners while advancing the long-term mission and sustainability of the school.


The successful candidate will be highly organized, collaborative, and capable of managing multiple initiatives simultaneously, including fundraising campaigns, donor stewardship, and major institutional events. This individual should demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and discretion while working closely with school leadership and members of the Advancement Team. A deep appreciation for Catholic education and the Salesian tradition of forming young men in faith, leadership, and service is essential.


Among other strengths and experience the school seeks are:

  • Experience in fundraising, advancement, development, or nonprofit leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and cultivate donor support.
  • Strong written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
  • Experience coordinating events or community engagement initiatives.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and professionalism.
  • Experience working collaboratively with school leadership, parents, alumni, and volunteers.
  • Familiarity with donor relations, stewardship programs, or advancement initiatives.

This is a 12 month position. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.


Salary Range: $80,000 - $110,000

The selected candidate’s salary will be determined based on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate’s qualifications, experience, education and other job-related credentials. This hiring range is provided as Salesian’s good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting.
